The biggest pineapple plantation in the world is to be found here. It belongs to the Dole Pineapple Company. In spite of that Lanai is a wonderful place to go with gorgeous, lonesome beaches, hiking trails across a mountain region full of wild animals and its tiny, cool major town Lanai City at 1640 ft above sea level, where you find a handful of quite good hotels.
